Hi Everyone, Welcome back. I will be reviewing the Nixit cup/disc today and have been looking forward to doing this for months. I used the Nixit disc for three months, which is the recommended adjustment period, so that I could give you all the best and most accurate information as to how it worked with my body. Before I continue, I do want to point out that everyone has a different body and body shape which means it is important to find a product that works for your body not just someone else's. As a brief intro for those of you that are not familiar with the Nixit or discs in general. The Nixit is a reusable menstrual disc made of hypoallergenic FDA approved medical grade silicone. Instead of sitting in your vaginal canal like a menstrual cup or tampon it sits higher up, right under your cervix tucked under your pubic bone (follow the link at the end for a tutorial). This means that the Nixit sits in place because of your bone structure rather than suction!!! This was a big plus for me because of my menstrual cramps and may be more comfortable for people with sensitivity. A major aspect that attracted me to this product is that it is reusable and lasts up to 5 years which means users are saving money and saving the environment. The Nixit is a one size fits all product and can be used with an IUD (check with your doctor first) as well as during sex. Just like any other cup you can wear it for up to twelve hours and it can be cleaned by boiling it and washing it with unscented soap and water. Now is the really exciting part! I want to share with you my own experience with the product!!! Speaking completely honestly, I love the way the Nixit feels. I don’t use tampons because I am constantly aware of them inside me, but with the Nixit, I was not aware that there was anything in my body. For me this was amazing. I could, however, feel it when it got untucked and slipped which also caused it to leak. This was my biggest problem with the product, slipping. The first two days of every period went amazing. I could not feel it, I had limited slipping and It made my period manageable while I was off dealing with bigger problems, my cramps. I also loved that it would slip out of place and empty itself when I used the bathroom so that all I needed to do was slip it back into place afterwards and go about my day. It was the third day and on that I had more difficulty due to my fornix (the area above your vaginal canal where the Nixit sits) being less lubricated due to my period being less heavy on these days. I was not able to slip the Nixit all the way back without it folding on itself or trying to fall out. If you experience slippage with your Nixit try using water as a lubricant and doing kegels to shift it into place. These techniques, while they helped, did not fix my problem and I also found it slipping if I was very active or sitting for a long period of time before being active. My final verdict is that I really liked the product and company, but it was not the right menstrual product for my body.
With that said, I do have a few more thins to mention. The Nixit customer service is truly impeccable. I felt completely supported in this process and while the product did not work for me, I completely support the company and encourage anyone interested in trying it to definitely go for it. I have had numerous conversations with them over Instagram DM where they have given me tips for my specific struggles and have shown nothing but support and encouragement in this experience. They also always replied to any story I made mentioning them and wished me luck when I first posted that I bought the product. They are very approachable and the only company to reach out to me upon mention in my stories to offer their aid and support. If anyone is interested in more information on the product or has any questions, please comment below or send me an email or DM. I would be happy to help you with any questions or comments you may have and would love to hear what you have to say. While the Nixit did not work for my body, that does not mean it won’t work for yours. You can find more info and videos on how to use the Nixit on their website and Instagram.
